2017 Grand World Voyage, Day 200, Marrakech to Fez (Part 1 of 2)

This morning we left Marrakech behind and started our journey to Fes.  We had a great stay at the Riad Sapphire, a beautiful hotel and the staff were so friendly, accommodating and provided excellent service.  On the way to Fes, we passed Beni Mellal a lush area in the Middle Atlas Mountains region.  Our next stop was Ifrane, this town is unlike any other place in Morocco.  Located at an altitude of 5,460 feet above sea level in the Middle Atlas region, this small hill town has a Swiss alpine feel to it and is often referred to as “Morocco’s Switzerland”.  The lush greenery, cedar forests, and pastures is a sharp contrast to the hot and dry climate that surrounds it.  We arrived in Fes for rush hour traffic, checked into our traditional hotel and took a quick tour of the old town...being Friday everything was closed.  Tomorrow we will start our tour of Fes.  This is a two part blog, this is part one.
