2017 Grand World Voyage, Day 110, Corinto, Nicaragua (Part 2 of 2)

Late start to the day due a delayed arrival into Corinto but we made the best of it.  Ann, Cathy and I negotiated a sightseeing tour with the local taxi authority and we were assigned Domingo as our taxi driver for the day.  We wanted to see something different today so we left Corinto and headed to Chinandega and El Viejo for an authentic atmosphere. During the drive to Chinandega Domingo went out of his way to accommodate my photo opportunities and added versatility to our adventure.   On our country-side drive, we stopped at the beach and drove alongside the St. Cristobal volcano, the tallest inactive volcano in Central America standing over 1.75 kilometres in height.  Once in Chinandega, we stopped at the central market place, the heartbeat of every Nicaraguan town and city. Chinandega has three beautiful main churches; Our Lady of Guadeloupe, El Calbareo and Santa Anna that we visited. Onto El Viejo with a stop at the Immaculate Conception of Maria Basilica, Central Park and the adjacent markets.  We returned to Corinto had a brief WIFI stop and walked back to the ship.  It was a very pleasant day with many photo opportunities. This is a two part blog, this is part 2.
