Montreal, Quebec, Canada

After having a very busy and scenic visit to the Montmorency Falls we left Quebec City and headed for Montreal. Our first stop was St. Joseph’s Oratory on Mont Royal, one of the world’s largest basilicas set on the highest point in Montreal.  The oratory was the dream of Father Andre Bessette who was known as a healer.  The basilicas were just amazing, so beautiful and provided wonderful views. We entered into the chapel and we all said a prayer for our dear friend Myrna for a quick recovery from her illness.   Next we drove to Mont-Royal Park known for the best panoramic view of Montreal.  The park was designed by American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed New York’s Central Park.  The park offers scenic views, walking trails and small wildlife such as, racoons which I came upon and of course had to photograph.  Our next stop was Old Montreal where we walked along the old streets, passed by the Notre-Dame Basilica, a magnificent church and, as a point of interest, this was the church where Celine Dion was married.  We made a quick stop at a souvenir shop and then headed out in rush hour traffic back to Gananoque.  What a great adventure!!!!

  1. Hi Jeff,
Two of my favorite cities: Quebec City and Montreal, I have deep Canadian roots. So nice to see familiar sites thru another's eyes.
Looks like you are enjoying wonderful weather.
